Gardens of Peace, Gardens of Change
We are partnering on a project with an inspiring new initiative:
Gardens of Peace, Gardens of Change is bringing peace into this world, one garden at a time. It’s mission is to create gardens and landscapes that cultivate peace in this world, to affect change. It initiates Change through Peace, in a way that touches people and places in everyday life, weaving into the fabric of lives, communities, and landscapes, by bringing Peace to Place.
PEACE has the capacity to be a powerful force for change, able to permeate and fill space, to fill the voids of this world, to overcome obstacles, divisiveness, and indifference; able to infuse the human heart, and embrace all things.
When we are surrounded by environments that cultivate peace, that increase our awareness, and pull us out of the constant barrage of thoughts and busy-ness that consume our lives, we slow down, enter into the present moment, and relate to the world around us in a more intimate way. We cannot help but see the world differently when we do—to see the beauty around us, the life around us. When we engage in the world this way, we care about it and life more deeply, and that cannot help but affect change.
Our first project in partnership with Gardens of Peace, Gardens of Change is a meditation/nature path in Easton, CT, on the beautiful grounds of Christ Church. Below is a concept sketch of the full project, encompassing a walking meditation path that traverses the property, a boardwalk at ponds edge that flows between the pond and native plants along it, a pavilion for gathering, and a labyrinth. The project will be broken into phases, with the focus of the first phase being the walking meditation/nature path. Fund raising and grant writing for this project has begun, to bring it into reality. We will be adding updates as this project progresses.
